Welcome to CASA – Advocating for Children in Need

At CASA, we believe that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, loving, and supportive environment. As an organization, we are dedicated to advocating for children who are victims of abuse or neglect. Our trained volunteers, called CASA’s, work to ensure that every child’s voice is heard in court, guiding them toward brighter, more hopeful futures.

What is CASA?

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a national movement that recruits and trains community volunteers to advocate for children in the foster care system. CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect, ensuring their rights are upheld in legal proceedings and helping them navigate their journey through the system.

Why CASA Matters

Children in the foster care system often face overwhelming challenges. With the support of a CASA, these children gain a voice that helps them find stability, safety, and care.

What does a CASA do?:

  • Build Relationships – Advocates develop one-on-one relationships with children to understand their needs, fears, and hopes.
  • Provide Consistency – In a world that can often feel unstable for foster children, CASA Advocates provide a sense of continuity and support.
  • Speak Up – Advocates give a child’s perspective in court hearings, ensuring the child’s needs and best interests are considered by the judge.

The Impact of CASA

Each year, CASA volunteers make a life-changing impact on thousands of children’s lives. Their advocacy helps children secure:

  • Safe and permanent homes
  • Access to education and healthcare
  • Emotional support and stability

In fact, research shows that children with a CASA volunteer are more likely to be placed in permanent homes and less likely to be re-abused. Children die everyday in Illinois. No child with a CASA has died.

How You Can Get Involved

Becoming a CASA Volunteer is one of the most meaningful ways to make a direct impact in a child’s life. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Volunteer – CASA’s come from all walks of life. No special background is required, just a passion for helping children. The training is thorough, and ongoing support is provided.
  2. Spread the Word – Awareness is crucial in our mission to support vulnerable children. Share our story with others, and help us reach more people who want to make a difference.
